A wonderful serigraph from the 1968 collection titled Werk Ausgabe (Work Edition) that included 63 of his works. The 2000 copies have been divided this way and that but this particular print rarely comes up. It is signed in the plate (I have seen it claimed that these prints are hand signed but that would amount to 126,000 of them) and the original drawing dates from 1945. The horse has remained a constant symbol from Ancient Rome through Italian modernism and no other 20th century artist is quite as synonymous with them as Marini. Near enough a whole room is dedicated to his equine sculptures in the Vatican museum and while this might not have the gravitas of Marcus Aurelius on the Capitoline, it is much cuter.
